For tradespeople

You already train people. This could be the next step.

If you have supervised apprentices, shown a new starter how it's done, or explained why a job has to be done properly — you have already been teaching. Colleges need people like you.

Ways in

It doesn't have to be all or nothing

Teaching a trade is not one job. Some people move across entirely; plenty keep a foot in industry. Exploring the option costs you nothing.

Full-time lecturing
Teaching a timetable of learners at a college, usually with training and support to gain a teaching qualification while you work.
Part-time and sessional
A few hours or days a week alongside your existing work. A common way to try teaching without giving anything up.
Apprenticeship delivery
Working with apprentices in the workplace and in the training centre — often the closest fit if you have supervised apprentices already.
Assessing and quality assurance
Assessing learners against industry standards. Your occupational competence matters more than classroom experience here.
